David is no stranger to the Porsche brand, having won the Australian GT Championship twice – in 2009 and 2010 – as well as competing in the Australian Carrera Cup Championship. He also won the Australian Tourist Trophy Championship in a Porsche in 2009 and 2010.
In 2006, in his maiden year in the Porsche Carrera Cup series, he was named ‘Rookie of the Year’ and subsequently went on to win races and achieve podium finishes on many occasions.
Throughout his career, his mainstay has been sports cars and touring cars and in 2009 he competed in the V8 Supercars’ long distance races as co-driver before doing a full season in 2011 in the Fujitsu V8 Series (the forerunner to the Dunlop Series).
2012 was his first full season in V8 Supercars in a Holden Commodore VE with Brad Jones Racing before moving to Dick Johnson Racing in 2014 driving a Ford Falcon FG and then on to Garry Rogers Motorsport in 2015 driving a Volvo S60 Polestar. In 2016 he switched between driving duties in the Porsche Carrera Cup and the Supercars Pirtek Enduro Cup where he co-drove the Volvo S60 Polestar with Scott McLaughlin to record three podiums and third place in the Enduro series.
David continues this year in the hotly-contested Porsche Carrera Cup Australia series after a successful return to the premier sports car category last year where he finished third in the championship. He will once again be at the wheel of the 911 Porsche GT3 Cup (type 991) sporting a fresh red and white PAYCE livery.
