David Wall Shines on the Gold Coast to Bring Home the Championship - Brian Boyd
Brian Boyd said that for David Wall, this final round of the season was one of his most important weekends of his motorsport career.
"After seven rounds and 20 races he held a slim lead on the championship and it all came down to the wire in the last three races," Brian said.
"The #38 Wilson Security/PAYCE Porsche was quick off the transporter and a second fastest time in practice one on Friday gave David and his crew confidence that the championship was well within grasp, save unforeseen incidents.
"David had not had a DNF all season and his record of four wins and 12 podiums showed that consistency pays off and now was not the time to take risks unless absolutely necessary."
David Primed for Saturday Qualifying - Brian Boyd
Brian Boyd said practice two saw David fastest of the field and primed for a good result in qualifying later in the day.

A Strong 3rd Placing in Race 1 for David sets the Tone – Brian Boyd
"David made a good start in race one on Saturday and as the race progressed, made ground to give him a 3rd placing, while retaining the championship lead.
"Race two on Sunday morning was generally uneventful and although he slipped a couple of places to 5th, David was satisfied he had done enough with just the final race to go.
"As long as he finished 7th or better he would be crowned 2017 series champion," Brian Boyd confirmed.
Race 3 Delivers the Championship to David – Brian Boyd
"Race three was the curtain-raiser to the main Supercars race and David was well aware that not only was his championship dream close to reality, he had little time to draw breath before jumping behind the wheel of the Nissan he was sharing with Rick Kelly in the Gold Coast 600, which they were to finish well up in 11th place.
"David drove a strong but no-risk final race to bring the #38 Porsche home in 5th place and claim the series title by 20 points with four wins and 13 podiums from 23 starts," Brian Boyd said in reference to the championship.
A Popular and Well-Deserved Series Win for David - Brian Boyd
"A popular and well-deserved win after an extremely busy year for David that included the three Porsche Carrera Cup endurance races and the three Supercars enduros.
"David said the day held a special significance for him and his family in dedicating the win to his late father, Des, who was a champion racer in his own right.
"Congratulations to the whole Wall Racing team for a fantastic season and one they are sure to remember for years to come," Brian Boyd commented.
