Practice Sessions Not Always a True Indicator - Brian Boyd

Brian Boyd said that while not always a true indicator of how the meeting will unfold, a good showing in opening practice is welcomed, as was the case for David Wall in the #38 PAYCE Porsche GT3 in Friday's practice.

"David was quick to set the pace in his chase for the championship lead, going into the round a close second to Heimgartner," Boyd said.

"Fresh from his outright maiden round win at Phillip Island, he was justifiably pleased with the repeat of the handling and pace that he found last year at the circuit," Brian Boyd recalled.

David said it was a very good day for the Wall Racing team, finishing with the fastest time in session 1 and second fastest in session 2 and overall fastest time from the two sessions.

"I was pretty happy with my car here last year and we have learnt a little more since then so we kept a similar set-up with some small tweaks and it was great," he said.

David Takes Fastest Time in Saturday Qualifying - Brian Boyd

Qualifying on Saturday for the first race later in the day saw David take fastest time which gave him his first pole in the championship.

Brian Boyd said David was just pipped by Evans going into the first corner and was mindful to stay out of trouble in order to build on his points tally.

"David lost one position to Davidson as the race unfolded and just when he thought he would have to settle for third behind Evans and Davidson, Davidson ran wide at turn one on the last lap and handed David second place and the championship lead," Brian Boyd offered.

Race 2 on Sunday had David off from the Front Row – Brian Boyd

Race 2 on Sunday had David off the front row of the grid, but Evans and Davidson both made good starts and David slotted in behind the pair.

"The race was much of a repeat of Saturday's race, except Davidson stayed on the circuit this time to take second, with David increasing his championship lead with a third placing," Brian Boyd said.

David Earns his Third Podium for the Weekend – Brian Boyd

Race 3 saw Evans continue his run of wins, with a repeat of second race placings giving David his third podium for the weekend and a convincing 40 point lead in the Outright championship.
