Touring Car Masters One of the Most Popular in the 2017 Series - Brian Boyd

Brian Boyd said this category supported by PAYCE is one of, if not the most popular, with race fans in Darwin and all around the country.

"John Bowe is equally popular and a welcome starter for the Darwin round of the championship after sustaining injuries in a crash at Winton last month," Brian Boyd said.

"Initially, JB was doubtful he would recover in time for the third round, which would have disappointed lots of fans as well as John, but he keeps himself fit and this no doubt contributed to his speedy recovery.

JB Not 100% Though Looking Forward to the Darwin Race Meeting – Brian Boyd

"John says he is not 100 per cent recovered, but is looking forward to getting back in the #18 Torana after it sustained a lot of damage," reported Brian Boyd.

"As a consolation, JB set a new lap record that gave him pole position for the seventh time in the eight consecutive years the category has come to Darwin." finished Brian Boyd.

JB Thanks Car Owner Gary O'Brien for the Stellar Effort – Brian Boyd

John Bowe said the car owner Gary O'Brien had pulled together a lot of resources and willing hands to get the car repaired in such a short time and he was grateful to everyone who worked on the car.

"They are a great bunch of people at Bendigo Retro Muscle Cars and they have done a mighty job to get the car ready, especially considering the extent of damage.

JB Would Have Been Immensely Disappointed had he Missed the Darwin Round - Brian Boyd

Brian Boyd said John would have been immensely disappointed if he had missed the Darwin round as it is one of his favourite circuits.

"He won the first TCM round held at the track back in 2008 and since then has amassed a great record of poles and wins, particularly in his Mustang in 2012, 2013 and 2014," offered Mr. Boyd.

"Last year, he posted fastest time in qualifying for race one in the #18 Torana to take pole and finished second after some thrilling dicing with Steve Johnson and Glen Seton. Later races saw him finish fifth after a spirited effort to get past the leader resulted in an off-track excursion.

JB has Solid Competitors in 2017 – Brian Boyd

"I expect John's main competition is likely to come from Steve Johnson (Mustang), Eddie Abelnica (Torana) and Jim Richards who returns in the Ford Falcon Sprint," Brian Boyd said.

The Touring Car Masters field of 24 cars take to the track on Friday for two 20 minute practice sessions, then qualifying and race 1 on Saturday. Sunday sees them back again to excite the fans with two more action-packed 10 lappers. Support TEAM Payce with Brian Boyd this weekend in Darwin.
