"With rounds of the Dunlop Series and Porsche Carrera Cup also on this year's racing program, all seven Team PAYCE drivers were on deck and some had a bigger weekend than usual with double duties keeping them busy," said Brian Boyd.
Supercars drivers, Scott McLaughlin and James Moffat were joined by co-drivers, David Wall and James Golding for the enduro, as well as undertaking their respective regular drives in the Dunlop Series and Porsche Carrera Cup, while Richard Muscat had his regular drive in the Dunlop series.
Dunlop Series driver, Macauley Jones also doubled up as co-driver in the Brad Jones Racing CoolRide Supercars team. John Bowe was not competing but was kept busy thrilling guests with course rides.
Brian Boyd said, "All three Team PAYCE drivers are performing well at this point in the season with James Golding notching his maiden win earlier in the Phillip Island round". The PAYCE team regularly feature well in the top ten and better – noted Mr Boyd.
"At this meeting, James and Macauley Jones were doubling up with co-driver duties in the Wilson Security Sandown 500, so they had a busy time ahead of them.
"Also for this round, we had Chelsea Angelo joined Team PAYCE and Wilson as an additional sponsored driver in the #28 Ford Falcon," noted Brain Boyd.
Practice sessions on Friday ...
Friday's two practice sessions saw the three regular drivers quickly into the top ten times, with James Golding topping the times in practice 1, Richard Muscat 8th and Macauley Jones10th. In the second practice session, Richard was 5th, Macauley 6th and James 9th. Chelsea did not feature in the top times but concentrated on setting the car up to her liking and getting to know the track.
Saturday's qualifying race ...
Saturday's qualifier was much of a repeat of the previous day's performances and all three drivers qualified strongly with Richard the best in 5th spot.
Brian Boyd reported that the first 22 lapper in the afternoon resulted in a best championship result to date for Richard who came home in second position for his first podium of the season, with James and Macauley finishing mid-field.
"The second race of the day over the same distance resulted in all three boys well inside the top ten with James 6th, Richard 7th (after being turned around and then setting a new lap record) and Macauley 8th.
"Chelsea Angelo also had an outstanding result, making it to tenth after improving 12 places from her grid position.
Sundays Main event.
"Sunday's race saw young James chalk up his second win of the season, which was even more rewarding given the distraction and call on his co-driver services in the enduro. Richard finished seventh and Macauley ninth to complete the round.
Brian Boyd said, "The weekend performances were a great result for the young Team PAYCE members and they continue to improve and grow with every round of the Dunlop Series".
