Porsche Carrera Cup Australia

For 2016, Team PAYCE is a mix of young rising stars, experienced drivers and, in John Bowe's case, a legend in motorsport.

All Team PAYCE drivers were competing in Adelaide across four categories – V8 Supercars, Dunlop Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and Touring Car Masters.

The Clipsal 500 meeting is traditionally the season opener and one of the toughest circuits of the championship. This year there were added challenges and surprises with the extreme temperatures and to top it off, a shortened last race for the V8 Supercars on Sunday with treacherous wet weather conditions and confusion regarding the rules.

David Wall #38 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (David Wall Racing)

For David Wall and his team, the first round of the season could not have started better. The two practice sessions on Thursday saw David at the top of the times and while practices are not always a good indicator of what is to come, in this case the entire field were up to speed as soon as they hit the track. David was even more satisfied as he felt there was more in the car once the balance was sorted.

Friday's qualifier for race 1 saw David in the top 5 for most of the session, but dropping back to 8th by session end as he worked at settling the car down and still seeking the best balance. Race 1 in mid-afternoon had a number of incidents that fortunately did not have David Involved but resulted in the 16 lap race being shortened to10 laps. With time running out, David was able to move up to 7th position before the chequered flag came out.

Saturday's race 2 was much a procession with most of the field holding position. The race ran its full distance and David drove a heady race to finish a strong 5th in what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive series in 2016.
